Timber Designs was originally founded in early 2000. In Fall of 2008 Timber Designs was purchased by Jenifer Tringham. Jenifer was an employee of the original owner, her favorite aspect of Timber Designs was that the furniture was made on American soil, for Americans, by Americans. After being informed that the company was going to be sold overseas, Jenifer bought the company to preserve the American jobs, and the patriotism of the company—the essence of the company that she loved.

Jenifer’s childhood love for designing has continued into her company. She was inspired at a young age by her mother who was an interior decorator. Today, Jenifer displays her creativity and love for designing as she designs and redesigns pieces of furniture for Timber Designs. She said, “My favorite thing about the furniture is the creativity behind it. It’s art! Coming up with new products, making improvements on the old—there is just a sense of pride as the furniture becomes better! There are improvements every day. It is also exciting to make something well built, that can be passed on through the generations—it’s built to last and you know it!”

Wood

Furniture manufactures in America are a dying breed. Most furniture today is made overseas with inexpensive woods. Timber Designs, however, uses aspen logs as well as reclaimed wood from barns and old structures to create furniture that is built to last.

The aspen logs, used in the furniture, are harvested as dead standing wood from the forests in the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains of Utah—no logs are ever cut from live trees. The aspen logs are then hand selected, specifically for an individual piece of furniture. Some of the aspen logs are considered “extra gnarly.” Extra Gnarly pieces of aspen are art in their own way—some have been chewed on by elk or deer while others have an extreme amount of knots that give them added character. Additionally, some have ‘pictures’ drawn on them by the roots of small plants and other organisms that lived on the tree.

Each of these logs tells a story of one tree in a forest. All of these stories combine to make an unforgettable, unique, piece of furniture built to last.
