Founded by Linda Singh who created Sitara Collections as a means to share the beautiful handcrafted items made by artisans in India and other developing countries. Linda started visiting India with her Indian-born husband in 2006 and brought back jewelry and personal accessories as gifts for her friends and family, who loved them and started giving her their own shopping lists! We are buying from artisans at fair trade wages to give these artisans access to sustainable income, health care, education and the chance to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. We follow fair trade principles and all of our items are handmade.
Company Profile Request update info.
Company’s story starts with a series of trips to India, starting in 2006, after Linda Singh married her Indian born husband, Vinay Singh. Traveling throughout India, she met with artisans and small entrepreneurs who worked tirelessly to earn a living. Linda left her corporate job in 2014 and established Sitara Collections®, empowering Indian artisans and their communities, to showcase their beautiful handcrafted products and to give back to the world that’s given us so much beauty.
They work with Artisans over in India who make beautiful handcrafted goods and are paid a fair wage for their efforts. Linda Singh has traveled all over northern India meeting these artisans. They have toys that are hand knitted exclusively for Sitara Collections by women in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. The company gives back to the Sitara Foundation, a non-profit organization, which helps support the SVV school in Chanchali, her Indian-born husbands ancestral village
