In 1984 the distinctive orange ‘Technic’ was the first pocket portable soldering iron introduced to market, and servicemen and technicians the world over were suddenly given the freedom to be able to solder joints in the field, alleviated by the need to plug in to electrical outlets. Following the original innovation of the ‘Technic’, Portasol rapidly built on this success and introduced the Professional iron, adding accessories such as hot blow and hot knife tips, and producing the first Heat tool kit. Portasol has established itself as the world leader in its field and manufactures a comprehensive range of gas-powered soldering irons and heat tool kits; the Super-Pro is a firm favourite in the automotive aftermarket with features such as flameless hot blow for heat shrink tubing; built in blowtorch and hot knife.
