JAMAR is founded by James Martin. The company’s name is based from his name. They started as a distributor for traffic data collection equipment made by other companies. In the 1970’s and 1980’s the company was established as one of the top sellers of these products in North America. Martin decided to manufacture their own products because of trouble due to manufacturers not responding to customer needs. In mid-1980’s they introduced their product which is a handheld traffic data collector and the company changed from a sales company to a manufacturing company thus using JAMAR Technologies as their name. In the 1990’s they introduced distance measuring instruments and traffic data recorders. These products were refined and improved to ease the use of the product to their customers. Today JAMAR is known worldwide for their quality products and ease of use.
