Harvy Surgical Supply Corporation is a fifth generation family owned business that has grown over the past 107 years to be the largest manufacturer of walking canes in North America. The company’s factory is located in Flushing, NY. Abraham Levy, a silversmith in London started the company. He came to America with his son Harry in 1882. Harry Levy began making umbrella handles for ten cents each, by making the handles 30” longer he could sell them as canes for forty cents. Five of Harry’s son managed the business through the depression years and in the industrial age. They changed the name from Harry Levy Co. to Harvy Surgical Supply in 1964. Harry’s sons later added medical products including crutches, walkers, wheelchairs and patient aids in their product line. The fourth generation is led by Harvey Murtha son of Harry’s daughter. Harvey added designer canes to their product line and imported specialty canes from Europe around the world. The company is known for its quality products, excellent customer service and prompt fulfillment. Harvy Surgical Supply is lucky to have Harvey’s two sons, Paul and Scott in the business today. They are the fifth generation and they are taking the business into the computer age via our new web site and providing on-line shopping capabilities for our customers.
