Crown Verity takes pride in its professional barbecue grills and outdoor cooking products. Its vision is to lead the outdoor and portable food service equipment market in North America.
Company Profile Request update info.
In 1910, Crown Electrical Manufacturing Company incorporated and became the first company in Canada to manufacture lighting fixtures, fireplace assemblies, portable table lamps and brass artware. Its reputation for quality and workmanship led to country-wide success, increased sales and rapid growth.
In 1936, Crown Electrical Manufacturing Company was forced into bankruptcy by the effects of the Great Depression. In order to revive the company, a new charter was obtained by a group of local men under the name, “Crown Electrical Manufacturing Limited”. P.E. Verity was its president.
WWII & Crown Electrical Manufacturing Limited
Even with the new charter in place, Crown Electrical Manufacturing Limited continued to struggle during the remainder of the 30’s. To stay afloat the company built component parts for Mosquito aircrafts during the Second World War. After the war, the company returned to manufacturing of lamps and fixtures for markets across the country.
Shift to commercial restaurant equipment
In 1951, a major shift in direction took place. The business decided to diversify and become a distributor of commercial restaurant appliances.
In 1991, Bill Verity launched Crown Verity, a company that has been providing food service professionals with high quality portable grills for over 20 years.
During this transition, Bill Verity worked at Crown Electric for his father, Jack. Having the liberty of using different commercial restaurant grills, Bill sensed he could build a more improved commercial barbecue.
This emphasis on quality is backed by our motto: “Our reputation is stainless.”
